## How it runs

1. **Day before**  
### Book 24 hours ahead  
Tell Ngân by 18:30 the day before: how many of you, who is vegetarian, any allergies.
2. **18:00**  
### The lounge stove is lit  
Vinh lights the wood stove in the lounge. On a dry evening the grill is lit in the yard; if it rains, the pot goes on in the shared kitchen instead.
3. **18:30**  
### Sit down  
Everyone eats at one table in the lounge, by the stove. Dishes come out in order; there is nothing to order.
4. **20:30**  
### Table cleared  
Dinner ends. The lounge and the stove stay on until 22:00 if you want to sit on with a pot of tea.
5. **22:00**  
### Quiet hours  
The lounge closes and the fire burns down. Quiet hours until 07:00.

The fireside dinner is a home-cooked meal for four or more, served at one table in the lounge next to the wood stove, from 18:30 to 20:30\. There is no menu to choose from: each night there is one set meal for the table. On a dry evening it is grilled in the yard; if it rains, it is a pot cooked in the shared kitchen. It suits families in the [Garden House](/en/rooms/garden-house), two couples travelling together, or a group of friends across two or three rooms.

## Why four or more

A grill or a shared pot needs enough people round it to be worth doing, and to avoid wasting food. So we cook for four at minimum. If there are two of you and you want it anyway, the quote charges four places (1,120,000 VND). Most couples end up cooking for themselves in the 24 m² shared kitchen, open 07:00 to 21:30, or book the [Kitchen Room](/en/rooms/kitchen-room) with its own hob.

## Where you eat, and how warm it is

Dinner is in the lounge. Vinh lights the lounge stove at 18:00 and it burns until 22:00, so the room is warm by the time you sit down. If you are staying in [Fireside](/en/rooms/fireside), your own stove is going when you get back to the room. The table is cleared at 20:30, but the lounge stays open until 22:00\. Quiet hours start at 22:00, so dinner does not run past that.

## Price and booking

280,000 VND per person, four or more, 24 hours’ notice. Four people come to 1,120,000 VND; six to 1,680,000 VND. ## Questions

### Can two of us book it?

We cook for a minimum of four. If there are two of you and you still want it, the quote charges four places, 1,120,000 VND. Most couples cook in the shared kitchen (open 07:00 to 21:30) or book the Kitchen Room instead.

### What is on the menu?

One fixed menu for the whole table each night, grilled or a pot, depending on whether the evening is dry. Ngân tells you that night's dishes when she confirms. Vegetarian or other needs: tell us 24 hours ahead.

### Can two rooms eat together?

Yes. It is priced per person, 280,000 VND each, so eight people is 2,240,000 VND. The group shares one table in the lounge.
