What the window faces

Second-floor corner, windows on two walls facing the valley. The house sits on the slope, so from here you look down into the valley, where mist tends to settle early in the morning.

The Mist Suite (Phòng Sương) is the 36 m² corner room on the top floor, with a wood stove, a bath set beside the window and glass on two sides looking over the valley. If you are searching for a Dalat suite with a bathtub and a fireplace, this is the only room here that has both, plus the view. The house is named after the mist, and this is the room where you see it best, on the mornings it turns up.

Bed and bath

A 1.8 x 2.0 m king bed, one mattress. The freestanding bath stands by the corner window, so you look out at the valley from the water. Two guests maximum, no extra bed.

The stove and cold nights

The wood stove sits behind a glass door. At 18:00 Vinh comes in, lights it and leaves one basket of wood for the night; the wood is included in the rate. Only staff light the stoves, so you do not light or feed it yourself; if you want more fire before 22:00, call Vinh. After 22:00 nothing more goes in, the fire dies down and the room cools slowly through the night.

It heats the room, not the house. Two walls of glass give you the view but also let heat out faster once the fire is gone. December and January nights can fall to 10°C to 12°C, so the bed has an electric blanket, which Lan warms before you turn in.

From the gate to the room

This is the furthest room by stairs: 46 stone steps from the gate to the lounge, then 30 more up to the second floor, 76 in all. Vinh carries your bags to the door. There is no lift, and every trip down to breakfast and back is 30 steps.

Worth knowing

  • We cannot promise mist. It is most frequent in September and October, and you only know on the morning itself. Tuệ’s Đà Lạt month by month explains what each month brings.
  • If you would rather chase clouds on a hill than wait at the window, our car leaves at 04:45: see the guide to cloud hunting in Đà Lạt.
  • Expect a faint smell of wood in the room.
  • For a stove with fewer stairs and a lower rate, see Fireside: 66 steps from the gate, 1,550,000 VND midweek.

Rates

The Mist Suite is 2,350,000 VND a night midweek (Sunday to Thursday nights, regular season) and 2,940,000 VND on Friday and Saturday nights, including VAT, service, breakfast for two and the firewood. Most of September and October falls in low season, when rates are lower; every band is on the rates page. Send a request from the Mist Suite booking page, or see the other rooms on /en/rooms.

A day in the room

  1. 06:00Look out from bed through two walls of glass. On a misty morning the valley below is white; on a clear one you can see the far hills.
  2. 07:30Down 30 steps to the lounge for breakfast, until 09:30: the hot dish of the day, bánh mì, fruit, filter coffee, artichoke tea.
  3. 18:00Vinh lights the wood stove in your room, one basket of wood for the night. Run the bath while the room warms up.
  4. 22:00No more wood after this; the fire burns down. Lan has warmed the electric blanket. Quiet hours until 07:00.

About this room

Does the bath look out?

Yes. It is a freestanding bath placed next to the corner window over the valley, on the top floor.

Is mist guaranteed?

No. Đà Lạt has fog roughly 80 to 85 days a year, mostly in September and October. This room is where you see it best when it comes, but each morning decides for itself.

How long does the stove burn?

Vinh lights it from 18:00 to 22:00, one basket of wood a night, included. Guests do not light it or add wood. After 22:00 it burns down, and the bed has an electric blanket.

Is this a good room for a winter trip from Saigon?

Between the stove and a hot bath, the evenings are well covered. But December nights can drop to 10°C to 12°C and the fire stops at 22:00, so bring warm sleepwear. Peak rates apply from 20 December.
